Our Journey
Founder, CEO and Executive Director Mr Neo Hock Chong started a transport business at Loyang Offshore Supply Base, transporting pipes for oil and gas companies using four lorries.
Incorporated as Yew Choon Pte Ltd on 21 February 1975. Secured first major contract with Singapore's Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) to supply cranes and heavy lift transportation for equipment up to 60 tonnes — a partnership that continued for seven years until 1982.
JTC engaged Yew Choon on an exclusive basis to provide onshore transportation services to all tenants at Jurong Marine Base, serving oil companies for seven years until 1983.
Secured a five-year contract with the Singapore Public Utilities Board (PUB) to transport heavy equipment including transformers for power stations and sub-stations, handling loads in excess of 100 tonnes. Built lasting relationships with industry leaders including Alstom, Mitsubishi, Meiden Singapore, and ABB Industry.
Purchased our first set of Cometto heavy duty hydraulic trailers from Europe, capable of lifting up to 150 tonnes — among the first companies in Singapore to acquire such equipment.
Engaged by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore to relocate the international airport from Paya Lebar to Changi, completing the full packing, lifting, transportation, and installation of all administrative operations and ground services equipment in just three days.
Began transporting 576 MRT train carriages arriving from Japan and Germany — engaged separately by Kawasaki Heavy Industries and Siemens GmbH — to the MRT Train Depot at Bishan. This major project ran through to 2000.
Expanded into offshore transportation through the charter of tugboats and barges, extending our reach to Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Guam, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, the PRC, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, and Yemen.
Purchased our first two heavy duty barges equipped with ballasting capabilities for Ro-Ro operations. Designed our own in-house Ro-Ro ramps, coupling beams, and support beams, achieving greater efficiency and cost savings.
Entered into a joint venture with Van Seumeren Holland B.V. — then one of the largest heavy lift transport companies in the world — to form Van Seumeren (Singapore) Pte Ltd, focused on heavy lift transportation projects across South East Asia.
Acquired Goldhofer hydraulic trailers from Germany, significantly expanding our heavy haulage capabilities and fleet capacity for oversized and overweight cargo transportation.
Relocated to our current premises at No. 8 Pioneer Sector 1, Singapore — approximately 17,900 sq. m. with an 84-metre private waterfront jetty enabling direct Ro-Ro operations from our own facility.
Participated in the Inner Ring Road bridge installation project in Thailand as subcontractors, transporting 60 bridge deck units each weighing 500 tons by land and sea to the Chao Phraya River job site within 180 days.
Incorporated on 1 November 2007 as an investment holding company in preparation for the listing of our Group. Through a restructuring exercise, the Company became the holding company of the Group through the acquisition of Yew Choon Technology and Yew Choon Marine.
Introduced the SBL1100 hydraulic gantry system, enabling precision lifting and skidding of heavy loads in confined spaces, expanding our capabilities for complex industrial and petrochemical projects.
Introduced strand jack systems capable of lifting and lowering extremely heavy loads with high precision, further strengthening our heavy lift portfolio for large-scale infrastructure and industrial projects.
Progressively added SPE (Self-Propelled Equipment) trailers to our fleet, enhancing our capacity to transport heavy and oversized cargo across challenging terrain and project sites.
Expanded our heavy haulage fleet with the addition of SPMT (Self-Propelled Modular Transporter) trailers, enabling the transportation of exceptionally large and heavy loads with greater manoeuvrability and flexibility.
Added an ASD (Azimuth Stern Drive) tug to our marine fleet, providing enhanced manoeuvrability and bollard pull for offshore and harbour towage operations.
Acquired a 750-tonne crawler crane, one of the largest in our fleet, significantly increasing our heavy lift capacity for large-scale onshore construction, petrochemical, and infrastructure projects.
Strengthened our marine fleet with the addition of an AHT (Anchor Handling Tug), expanding our offshore support capabilities for anchor handling, towing, and supply operations.
Operating a comprehensive fleet including cranes (50–750 tons), 3000-ton jacking systems, Ro-Ro barges, and advanced weighing systems up to 4000 tons. Delivering heavy lift and transportation solutions of up to 1,600 tonnes across diverse industries worldwide.
